23 drives to make you say WOW!

Perhaps we suffer from CDO [obsessive compulsive disorder – alphabetically]. Heading home last spring, we were more interested in getting there than sightseeing (last week I talked about storms chasing behind us).  To pass the time in approved CDO fashion, we made lists.  Here are 23 wow drives we took in 2016.  You may want to try them.

  1. Mount Lemmon outside Tucson, AZ – Sky Island Scenic Byway
  2. 20 Mule Team Canyon; Death Valley, CA
  3. Valley of Fires State Park, NV
  4. Box Canyon Road to Mecca, CA (Salton Sea) [No photo below]
  5. Old Route 66 from south of Oatman, AZ to Kingman
  6. Flagstaff AZ to Sedona to Camp Verde
  7. Salt River Canyon, AZ
  8. Monument Valley, UT and AZ
  9. Zion National Park — even when the park is too packed to get out of your car, it is worth driving through.
  10. Routes 375 and 305 Tonopah to Austin NV to Winnemucca, UT
  11. Routes 95 and 140 from Winnemucca UT to Klamath Falls OR
  12. Oregon Coast Highway from Lincoln City to Eureka CA

About ralietravels

Ray and Alie (Ralie) are a retired couple who love to travel. Even during our working years, we squeezed a trip in whenever we could, often when we had to stretch the budget to do so. We have been fortunate to vacation in all 50 states, all the provinces of Canada and one territory and a little more than 50 countries. We like to drive, but we particularly love to travel back roads to find unusual sights, people, and experiences.
