National parks, part 2: Begin to dream.

When does a trip begin?  Does it begin when you leave?  Or does it begins when you dream, when you have an idea?

I am writing this while we are still locked down by the pandemic.  As I wrote two weeks ago, it is good to see what is in the United States between the coasts, and a good place to start is with the U.S. National Parks.

Here are photos from my second group.  Asterisks note parks we haven’t been to yet.

About ralietravels

Ray and Alie (Ralie) are a retired couple who love to travel. Even during our working years, we squeezed a trip in whenever we could, often when we had to stretch the budget to do so. We have been fortunate to vacation in all 50 states, all the provinces of Canada and one territory and a little more than 50 countries. We like to drive, but we particularly love to travel back roads to find unusual sights, people, and experiences.

  1. Can you please asterisk them all for me please Ray?

I have the solution for you. There was a fellow on CBS who visited them all as part of the celebration of the park’s 100th anniversary. That is the way to do it: visit them all and have someone else pay for your time and expenses. 🤔

    • Having visited almost all of them (my wife and I dedicated a year to it), they are really hard to asterisk, Adam. Each has its own unique beauty. They do tend to lend themselves to visiting regionally. For example, the Southwest, California, the Northwest, Alaska, Florida, etc. The bottomline, however, you can’t go wrong. –Curt

For me, real travel begins when I book my travel tickets 🙂
The rest are only dreams and wishes and dozens of those I have – some which will never happen 🙂

Always wonderful to look back at photos and relive the joy of the experiences. We have rafted through the Grand Canyon and spent time in Glacier Bay. Both incredible experiences. Your list is a great resource for adventures in the years ahead for us.
