Ray and Alie (Ralie)  love to travel.  We are easily amused — we are the people for whom “Alligator Farms” are built.  But we particularly love to travel back roads to find unusual sights and experiences.

We hope you enjoy our pictures and notes and welcome your suggestions and comments.

The “Sights Listed by State”  page is just a list of places we have heard about.  As we meander into a new state, we are likely to check the list to see if something takes our fancy and head there.

Looking for information about a particular place?  Use Search function to see if we have been there.

P.S.  I have used the “cover photo” at the top of this site for several years now.  No one seems to have noticed that two horses are moving in the opposite direction of all the others.

Thanks Thom. I am curious about your name Thom; is that a shorter version or the full name? I ask because the last time I encountered it was in 1971 in Viet Nam.
You have an interesting blog and I plan to go back to it again when I have more time.

    Hi Ralie Travels,

I work for the Holland America Blog and am currently writing about “rounding the horn,” and found a fabulous shot on your site. Would you mind if we used it on the blog?

(Sorry for the comment rather than email, I’m having trouble finding your contact information.)

Hope to hear from you soon!

We have enjoyed all our trips on Holland, and you may certainly use the photo (with credit please). It would be nice if you could refer to as it is always nice to find new readers, but if that doesn’t fit Holland’s guidelines, just credit “Ray and Alie Randlett.” I’m happy you like the photo, but using it might be a little unfair (go ahead if you want) — even the Captain said it was the best weather he had ever had there.

  4. Thanks so much for following Oh, the Places We See. It’s a pleasure reading your About page (love the fact that Holland America wants to use one of your pictures!) and learning more about this traveling team. We, too, travel together. It’s nice to have someone co-pilot as well as someone to help plan the trips. Best wishes for continued good travels. Bert and Rusha

  13. That cover photo is brilliant in the way that it represents two horses doing something out of the ordinary – off the beaten path – like you two seem to do! Great journeys, travels, and blog!
